Mari Fujimoto is responsible for the Japanese language program and serves as advisor for the East Asian Studies Major (Japanese Area Track) and Japanese Minor. She teaches Japanese languages, culture and Japanese Linguistics.<\/p>\n

Research Interests<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am a psycholinguist who specializes on the syntactic\/semantic analysis of the L1 acquisition of Japanese particles\u2014the study of how Japanese infants learn particles as their syntactic structure develops and how they use the particles in their speech.\u00a0 In addition, I have avid interest in language\/culture pedagogy, second language acquisition and teacher training.<\/p>\n

My belief is that language learning is a first step towards the understanding of values and beliefs of a culture; I help our students to experience Japan first-hand, whether it is via Study Abroad or the JET Program.<\/p>\n

I teach all levels of Japanese language, Japanese Pop-culture (Manga, Anime and Japanese Society) and Linguistic Structure of Japanese Language.<\/p>\n
