        Note regarding BUS 101 and BUS 350<\/strong>
        The requirements of the Corporate Finance concentration of the Finance BBA were revised in August 2025. The main revision was the requirement of BUS 101 and BUS 350. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>The application of the new requirements starts with students that applied during August 2025 and were admitted in early September 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Previously admitted students can follow the concentration that they signed after their admission. These students can also opt to follow the new requirements, but in that case they should contact the department of Economics during Spring 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Note regarding BUS 111 and BUS 140<\/strong>
        The Department of Economics is introducing two new courses during Fall 2026 for BBA Majors in Finance, International Business and Actuarial Studies (BUS 111: Introduction to Management; and BUS 140: Introduction to Business Analytics. These courses will be required in the BBA programs instead of the previous two courses (BUS 111 instead of BUS 247 Managerial Economics; and BUS 140 instead of CSCI 48 Spreadsheet Programming). Students that have taken BUS 247 or CSCI 48 already do not need to do anything, the Department of Economics will consider those courses as part of their BBA program. For the rest of students, the Department of Economics recommends taking BUS 111 and BUS 140 instead as part of the required courses. Finally, BUS 247 will still be considered as part of the Corporate Finance, International Business and Actuarial Studies programs but as an elective.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Finance majors may\u00a0minor in Financial Modeling<\/a>\u00a0offered through the Computer Science department.<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Why take MATH 141 (or 151) as opposed to MATH 131?<\/strong>
        We strongly encourage taking MATH 141 (or 151) over MATH 131. There are several good reasons for this:
        \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0First<\/em>, it opens up many doors. MATH 141 (or 151) provides access to other courses in Math and Computer Science.
        \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Second<\/em>, it is a great investment. MATH 141 (or 151) will provide you with the mathematical skills you need to excel in courses such as ECON 201 and 202, and BUS 249, 353, 382 or 386.
        \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Third<\/em>, MATH 141 (or 151) is a pre-requisite for the Financial Modeling Minor, which is a great addition to your Economics major if you are interested in a career in quantitative finance or economics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
