- In non-LGBT-specific homeless youth services, LGBT youth are often discriminated against and inadequately served… as there are only about 250 LGBT-specific shelter and transitional living program beds in New York City
- Some homeless youth were “kicked out” and others actually chose to leave because of conditions they could no longer tolerate.
- Most LGBT child welfare clients experienced physical or sexual abuse and virtually all were verbally harassed, by people who were either directly expressing homophobia or just thought LGBT youth were easy targets.
