Through a curriculum grounded in theoretical knowledge and practical application, students develop the competencies required to pursue professional certification as an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist and\/or NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in corporate, community, and athletic performance settings, including roles supporting stable health conditions and research initiatives. The program also establishes a strong foundation for advanced study in exercise science, strength and conditioning, athletic training, physical therapy, and other allied health professions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Learning Outcomes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Students will be able to critically read and interpret research in exercise science.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Students will demonstrate understanding of nutrition and physical activity behavior change strategies aimed at the development of long-term physical activity habits and the attainment of performance outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Students will be able to understand the function and structure of the skeletal, muscular, and articular systems and apply biomechanical principles to human movement, exercise training, rehabilitation, injury prevention.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Students will acquire and apply knowledge of bioenergetics and the physiological responses and adaptations of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and endocrine systems to exercise. They will understand the metabolic basis of physical activity in relation to energy balance, weight control, and body composition.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Students will gain knowledge of acute and chronic program design variables and apply evidence-based training principles to develop individualized strength and conditioning programs.
