The Queens College Speech Language Hearing Center is a unique and highly respected university program that has served children and adults across the lifespan in the Queens community since 1942.\u00a0 The focus of our Center is to provide quality clinical services in assessment and treatment to children and adults with communication disorders; prepare graduate students to become speech language pathologists who are responsive to the communication needs of a culturally linguistically diverse population; and to further knowledge about communication disorders and their effective assessment and treatment.<\/p>\n

The Speech-Language-Hearing Center is located in Gertz Hall, a one-story building in an accessible and conveniently located part of the Queens College campus.\u00a0 The Center houses the graduate education program in Speech-Language Pathology, the Speech-Language-Hearing Center, and offices for many of the program\u2019s faculty. The Center also serves as a laboratory for graduate students, undergraduate students in communication sciences and disorders, and faculty involved in applied clinical research.<\/p>\n
The Speech-Language-Hearing Center serves a diverse population of children and adults across the lifespan with speech and language needs. Services are available Monday \u2013 Friday until 7 pm.\u00a0 All clients are assigned to an ASHA-certified and NYS-licensed speech-language pathologist who will provide direct assessment and treatment services along with one-to-one clinical mentorship for assigned graduate students. The program is led by certified speech-language pathologists and uses SPEAK OUT!\u00ae therapy approaches established by\u00a0<\/span>Parkinson Voice Project<\/strong>\u00a0(PVP). Individual therapy is provided during the\u00a0<\/span>SPEAK OUT!<\/strong>\u00ae program and emphasizes the importance of speaking with intent. Upon successful completion, clients graduate to weekly group sessions developed to provide education, support and maintenance of newly acquired communication strategies.
