Our department sees these differences as reflections of human diversity, and in particular that found in the rich cultural landscape in the World\u2019s Borough. We teach about and do research on different aspects of this uniting theme. Our goal is to support our students and readers of our research and help them serve their communities with deeper understanding of and appreciation for the diversity of human communication.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The\u00a0Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation<\/a>\u00a0(CAEP) accredited the Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) at Queens College\/CUNY through Spring 2026. CAEP promotes excellence in educator preparation through content and pedagogy, clinical partnerships and practice, candidate recruitment, progression and support, program impact, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. Associate Professor Elizabeth Ijalba<\/strong> has won the\u00a0President\u2019s\u00a0<\/b>Award for Excellence in Research and Creativity<\/b> in the School of Arts and Humanities<\/p>\n General Linguistics major Stephania Zanabria <\/strong>has won the Clara Franke Scholarship<\/a> for this year!<\/p>\n Daniel Kaufman\u2019s <\/strong>ongoing collaborative work in mapping and documenting the languages of New York City has culminated in the release of the\u00a0Digital\u00a0Map of the Languages of New\u00a0York City,\u00a0<\/em>which can now be seen at:\u00a0www.languagemap.nyc<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Mara Lowe<\/strong> has received a $10,000 grant from the National Aphasia Association for her project entitled “Combined Personalized Word Naming and Spaced Retrieval Training for Primary Progressive Aphasia: A Preliminary Investigation.
