She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), which she attended on full scholarship. While at UNCG, she served as a staff accompanist for instrumentalists’ and vocalists’ master and doctoral degree recitals, as well as a rehearsal pianist and vocal coach for the UNCG Opera Department. Her dissertation is entitled “Leo Kraft’s Three Fantasies for Flute and Piano: A Performer’s Analysis” and discusses structural and interpretational issues in these works.<\/p>\n She earned both of her previous degrees (BM and MA) in piano performance from Queens College of the City University of New York where she was a Presser Scholar. She was granted the Chamber Music Live Award (four times), The Rathaus Family Memorial Award, the Adele Lerner Prize in Chamber Music, and the Mark Kyrkostas Memorial Award (twice) for piano performance, among others. In addition to her work at ACSM, she is also on the faculty of the ACSM’s Center for Preparatory Studies in Music (CPSM) \u00a0and on the piano faculty of the Music Conservatory of Westchester.<\/p>\n Professor Chernov previously served on the faculties of the United Nations International School, The University of Alabama, and The Piano School of New York City. Additionally, she was an adjudicator at the Young Artist Piano Competition and the Senior Piano Competition of the Georgia Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. She has served as an accompanist at the Mannes College of Music, Queens College, the 92nd Street Y, and the CPSM.<\/p>\n Professor\u00a0Chernov was the music director and pianist for Stern College Dramatic Society’s productions of Pirates of Penzance and Bye, Bye, Birdie. Both productions were presented to full-house audiences at the Schottenstein Cultural Center in Manhattan.<\/p>\n An advocate of contemporary music, Konstantza Chernov has given premiere performances of works by Eric B. Chernov, Mart\u00edn Kutnowski, Douglas O’Grady, and Michael Capobianco, among others. Additionally, this past Spring, for a second consecutive year, she was the pianist for the Long Island Composers’ Alliance concert presented at LeFrak Concert Hall.
