Recently, Ms. Grimaldi, sang the role of Senta in a concert version of excerpts from\u00a0Wagner\u2019s Der fliegende H\u00f6llanderwith the Chappaqua Orchestra under the direction of\u00a0Michael Shapiro.<\/p>\n Additional orchestral engagements include\u00a0Beethoven\u2019s 9th Symphony\u00a0under the direction of\u00a0David Leibowitz\u00a0with the\u00a0New York Repertory Orchestra\u00a0and the\u00a0Young New Yorkers\u2019 Chorus, Mahler\u2019s 8th Symphony\u00a0with both the\u00a0Nashua and Lexington Symphony Orchestras, the soprano soloist in a concert of operatic arias with the\u00a0North Shore Symphony on Long Island, Mozart\u2019s Requiem\u00a0with the\u00a0Reona Ito Orchestra and Chorus, Mahler\u2019s Symphony No. 4\u00a0with the\u00a0Queens College Orchestra,\u00a0Bach\u2019s Magnificat, Vivaldi\u2019s Gloria\u00a0with the\u00a0New Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Handel\u2019s Messiah\u00a0with\u00a0The New York Repertory Orchestra\u00a0in conjunction with the\u00a0New York Festival Singers, Barber\u2019s Knoxville Summer of 1915\u00a0with\u00a0Agincourt Orchestra, and\u00a0Mozart\u2019s Exultate,\u00a0Jubilate\u00a0with the\u00a0Third Street Music School Settlement Orchestra.<\/p>\n Jennifer Grimaldi Toohey was also heard operatically in roles including \u00a0Donna Anna\u00a0in\u00a0Don Giovanni, \u00a0 the\u00a0Countess in Le nozze di Figaro,\u00a0Pamina in Die Zauberfl\u00f6te,\u00a0Rosalinda in\u00a0Die Fledermaus, Ciesca in\u00a0Gianni Schicchi, Clorinda in\u00a0La Cenerentola, Suzel in\u00a0L\u2019amico Fritz, Mimi and Musetta in\u00a0La Boh\u00e8me\u00a0among others.\u00a0She also created the role of\u00a0Dolly in the New York City Premiere of Orpheus\u00a0Descending\u00a0by Bruce Saylor.\u00a0Ms. Grimaldi has performed with US opera companies and festivals including\u00a0Sarasota Opera, Brevard Music Festival, Intermezzo Opera Festival,Utah Festival Opera, and\u00a0Raylynmor Opera,among others.<\/p>\n Jennifer Grimaldi has been the recipient of awards and competitions including \u00a0Friday-Woodmere Young Artist Competition,\u00a0Claire Bennet Moringiello Award, Violet Zatkin Award for Opera, and the\u00a0Paul Robeson Vocal Competition.<\/p>\n A graduate of\u00a0The Aaron Copland School of Music\u00a0at\u00a0Queens College, Ms. Grimaldi Toohey is the co-founder and co-owner of the Long Island Studio of Music, on the voice faculty at\u00a0 The Aaron Copland School of Music\u00a0at\u00a0Queens College & program coordinator and voice teacher for the Queens Summer Vocal Institute. Jennifer is also a long time student her mentor Dr. Sherry Overholt.<\/p>\n
