He is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at Queens College, City University of New York, where he teaches organ, harpsichord, and fortepiano; directs the Baroque Ensemble; and offers courses in chamber music and Baroque performance practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Maki previously served as Associate Instructor of the harpsichord and figured bass accompaniment at Indiana University, Coordinator and Curator of the Historical Keyboard Collection at The Juilliard School. From 2010 to 2018, he was Associate Director of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rethinking Bach<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a summer workshop jointly organized by Queens College and Tokai University (Japan). Since 2017, he has been a member of the residential faculty at The Academy of Fortepiano Performance, hosted by the Catskill Mountain Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a performer, Dr. Maki has appeared with the American Classical Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, New York Classical Players, and a variety of chamber ensembles and soloists in the United States and abroad. His pedagogical and ensemble leadership activities also extend internationally, particularly in Colombia, where he offers lectures and classes at the University of Antioquia, and in Ecuador, where he collaborates with the Orquesta Acad\u00e9mica del Pac\u00edfico and co-directs a summer music festival in the historic center of Quito.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Maki studied at the Early Music Institute at Indiana University, the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, and the Smarano Organ Academy in Italy. and earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Stony Brook University. In addition to his academic and performance training, his study of historical keyboard technology and construction includes study with Robert Duffy (Indiana), Richard Hester (New York), Klop Orgelbouw and Onno Peper (The Netherlands), and Yasushi Takahashi (Japan).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Beyond his musical activities, Dr. Maki has worked on a private organic coffee farm in Colombia, where he learned about coffee cultivation and production.
