Students may major in either jazz performance or jazz composition.<\/p>\n

Admissions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students may apply to the program by first submitting the\u00a0Queens College graduate application<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After you have submitted your application and application fee, you must submit videos for prescreening to the School of Music using\u00a0GetAcceptd<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Program Requirements<\/h4>\n

There are two tracks to the MM Program in Jazz, the performance track and the composer track. The requirements for these programs overlap, but there are differences. For the Performance track the requirements are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Improv I (for everyone except vocalists and drummers)<\/td>\n3 credit hours<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Improv for Singers (required for vocalists)<\/td>\n3 credit hours<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Improv for Drummers (required for drummers)<\/td>\n3 credit hours<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Jazz History<\/td>\n3 credit hours<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Harmony I<\/td>\n3 credit hours<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Arranging and Composition I<\/td>\n3 credit hours<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
3 semesters of private lessons<\/td>\n4 credit hours each semester<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
3 semesters of ensembles<\/td>\n1 credit hour each, total 3 hours<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Requirements:<\/td>\n27 credit hours<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Elective credits:<\/td>\n9 credit hours<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Total number of credit hours required for the
