Mona Kleinberg is a public opinion scholar who researches the effects of political communication from the perspective of a political psychologist,\u00a0 considering the role of human psychology (i.e., limited cognition, social group identity, racial attitudes) in media use and public opinion. The outcome she is most interested in is democratic competence, commonly conceptualized as political knowledge, but also cares deeply about a range of other outcomes related to democratic politics.<\/p>\n
Kleinberg received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004, where she majored in communication. After several years working in public relations, she went back to school and received her PhD in Political Science in 2014 from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Her dissertation was supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF).<\/p>\n
