The Department of Political Science<\/strong> teaches students rigorous analysis of the forces that shape public decision-making. <\/strong>These include power relationships, political values and ideas, psychology, and formal and informal institutions that structure and drive the political behavior of individuals and groups.<\/p>\n

The Political Science Department prepares students for success in a wide variety of careers.<\/strong> Our students acquire valuable critical thinking and empirical analysis skills. Over half of the departments majors go on to graduate study and its list of alumni includes judges, politicians, CEOs, and non-profit leaders. Our alumni serve their communities while they build thriving careers.<\/p>\n

The department offers students<\/strong> an exciting and flexible program.<\/strong> Students can choose courses from a variety of subfields such as American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Politics, Political Theory, and Law or follow specific tracks in In<\/em><\/span>ternational Politics or Government and Public Service<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, political science now offers a new Minor in Legal Studies<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beyond the classroom, the department is home to an award-winning Model UN program, <\/strong>sponsors a series of public events, an engaged Political Science Club<\/strong>, and a thriving internship program <\/strong>that offers practical experience in a variety of political settings.<\/span><\/p>\n
