About the Institute:<\/strong>
The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation and the Queens College School of Education are proud to announce their first-ever 5-day Institute for secondary educators. Participants will be immersed in the life and legacy of this legendary artist through the newly digitized Armstrong Archives at the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Corona, Queens, and work with curriculum experts.<\/p>\n

What to Expect:<\/strong>
The week will be filled with musical exploration, collaborative learning, and innovative teaching strategies. By the end of the week, educators will leave with practical lesson plans that they can integrate into their History, English, and Arts curricula.<\/p>\n

Our Goal:<\/strong>
Our ultimate aim is to bridge individual classroom practices with the rich legacy of Louis Armstrong, one of America\u2019s first Pop Icons and Diplomatic Titans.<\/p>\n

This Institute is made possible thanks to the generous support and warm collaboration of the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation.
The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation Inc. was founded and funded by Louis and Lucille Armstrong in 1969 to “give back to the world some of the goodness he received.” The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to perpetuating the legacies of Louis and Lucille Armstrong throughout the world. Its mission includes supporting musicians, jazz education, performances, and programming.
The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation is a living legacy to “Satchmo” Louis Armstrong, the most important creative force in the early development and perpetuation of America’s music, jazz. His influence as an artist and cultural icon is universal, unmatched, and very much alive today.<\/p>\n

It was an amazing week to collaborate with experts in Louis Armstrong, musicians, educators, and educators I would never have met without this institute. It was refreshing to take a dive into the incredible life of such a legend.<\/p>\n

This was an experience for the books. I learned so much about Louis Armstrong in one week I didn’t think was possible. Everyone should participate in this program because it is an eye opener.<\/p>\n
