Executive Director<\/h4>\n

Eric Urevich <\/strong>has served as the Child Development Center Executive Director since 2005. He earned his MS in Early Childhood Special Education from Bank Street College of Education, his MSW in Clinical Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and his Doctorate in Social Work from the University at Buffalo-SUNY. As a certified teacher, licensed social worker and certified school social worker, he oversees all aspects of the Centers functioning, including serving as a member of the classroom staff.<\/span><\/p>\n

Office Manager<\/h4>\n

Nina Bautista<\/strong> joined the Child Development Center in 1999 and has served in various capacities since that time, including as a Work-Study Student, Teacher Aide, Assistant Teacher, Office Assistant and as the present Office Manager. She has been working with children for more than 30 years, including at the Shield Institute and QSAC of Queens, NY. Having earned her MS in Special Education from Touro University, Ms. Bautista regularly serves as a member of the classroom teaching staff in addition to overseeing all aspects of the Centers Administrative Office.<\/span><\/p>\n

Educational Director<\/h4>\n

Missy Karvecky <\/strong>currently serves as the programs Educational Director, overseeing all aspects of the classroom, including curriculum development, program planning, scheduling and direct instruction. Having returned to the Center in 2024 following 14 years of experience teaching in early childhood special education, Ms. Karvecky leads the Center\u2019s interdisciplinary team in administering developmental screenings, providing referrals for formal evaluations when indicated and partnering with families as they navigate the CPSE process. She holds a Masters Degree in Special Education from Hunter College and is NYS Certified.<\/span><\/p>\n

Head Teacher<\/h4>\n

Sandra Flores <\/strong>has been with the Center since 2023 as a Lead Teacher, following her time in the NYC Department of Education (DOE) where she taught Kindergarten and Second Grade. As a NYS Certified Teacher, she is well versed in curriculum development, instructional strategies and both NYS as well as NYC learning standards for young children. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Flores also supervises assistant teachers, graduate and undergraduate students. Her experience teaching children with special needs is considerable and so serves as a valuable resource to many families.<\/span><\/p>\n

Karran Jainarain <\/strong>is currently employed full-time as a NYC DOE Pre-Kindergarten Teacher and leads the Child Development Center\u2019s Afterschool program on a part-time basis. He has been with the Center since 2003 and has served in many roles over the years, including as a teacher in both the early childhood and school-age programs. He earned his MAT from Queens College and is a NYS permanently certified teacher. In addition to his role as a teacher, Mr. Jainarain is also a member of the School Leadership Team at P.S. 316 and was selected to participate in the District 17 Rising AP Institute.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assistant Teachers<\/h4>\n

Annabel Betances<\/strong> is currently an early childhood education major at Queens College and has been with the Center since 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n
