Jill Schlesinger, Noted CBS TV/Radio Financial Analyst, Will Speak at Queens College on Money Management in Turbulent Times

FLUSHING, NY, September 11, 2012 – With consumers’ reluctance to spend money, their uncertainty about government regulation over health care, and the increase in taxes, cost of fuel and utilities, how can small businesses stay afloat? While you may not be able to control the price of oil or the prime rate, there are ways to manage your financial future in these tough times, according to well-known CBS financial analyst Jill Schlesinger.

Schlesinger will offer personal and business financial advice to entrepreneurs in a presentation at Queens College on Friday, September 21. The free lunch forum, “How to Manage Your Financial Life During Turbulent Times,” will begin at 12 noon in the fourth floor ballroom of the college’s Student Union.

As Editor-at-Large for CBS’s and, Schlesinger is responsible for video and written content and guest appearances on “The CBS Evening News,” as well as for CBS TV and radio stations nationwide. In addition, she hosts “Jill on Money,” an entertaining call-in radio show broadcast in over 60 markets throughout the U.S. that helps listeners better understand their finances.

An expert on the economy, markets, and investing, Schlesinger is a regular commentator on American Public Media’s radio show “Marketplace.” She also writes the nationally syndicated column “Retire Smart” for Tribune Media Services. Prior to joining MoneyWatch in 2009, Schlesinger was the owner and chief investment officer of an independent advisory firm, which she grew from a small start-up into one of the largest such companies in New England, with over $650 million in client assets.
