Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n A Facilities Master Plan (FMP) establishes a framework for the orderly evolution and development of capital improvements on a campus. \u00a0It should be responsive to the institution’s current and projected needs with adequate flexibility to adjust to changes which can be expected over the course of its implementation. \u00a0The plan should define the ideal, anticipated development of available land and\/or redevelopment of existing buildings, consistent with the institution\u2019s mission statement and strategic plan.<\/p>\n The plan is used to help connect existing buildings together into a rational, unified whole, and then design a reasonable course for future development; however, the plan is not necessarily tied to a specific timetable for the funding or completion of projects that occur as part of the capital construction budgeting process.<\/p>\n Planning Process and Components<\/strong><\/p>\n A FMP includes information about the institution’s mission and vision, and how these relate to facilities requirements and needed improvements. \u00a0This involves an analysis of space and program needs at a divisional level; a description of the current portfolio; projections of needs over the next 10 to 20 years; and assumptions and criteria to meet identified needs.<\/p>\n Queens College Cycle<\/strong><\/p>\n The most recent masterplan dates from 2006, and the University is currently in the process of engaging a consultant to assist the College with updating the plan to meet the campus\u2019 current vision and mission.<\/p>\n
