This is a request to replace the x2 outdated iMacs and preferably to expand to either x3 or x4 total iMac workstations to support a Plotter Zone with increased capacity. The goal is to repurpose this waste material into reusable material, keeping waste out of landfill while simultaneously creating avenues of research and application for students for the viability of reconstituted bioplastics.<\/td>\n <\/tr>\n

The tablets connect wirelessly via Bluetooth or USB to existing classroom and lab computers across Klapper Hall and I-Building, requiring no new computers, no room modifications, and no software purchases. Drawing tablets are an essential tool in contemporary art and design education. They allow students to draw, paint, illustrate, and animate digitally using a pressure-sensitive stylus \u2014 a fundamentally different and more precise experience than using a mouse or trackpad. The portable kit model ensures that any instructor teaching in any of the 18 classrooms currently used by Art and Design programs can check out the tablets and bring them to class, maximizing access across the department. The Art Department previously maintained a set of drawing tablets that were lost during the COVID-19 campus closure and could not be located when in-person instruction resumed. Since then, students have had no institutional access to this technology. Multiple faculty members across illustration, animation, design, and studio art have independently and repeatedly requested tablet access for their students. This is the Art Department\u2019s third formal Student Technology Fee request for drawing tablet access, following unfunded proposals submitted by different faculty members in 2018 and 2020. The persistent, cross-faculty nature of this request reflects a genuine and ongoing instructional need. The Wacom Intuos Medium was selected as the most affordable professional-grade drawing tablet available. It is the industry-standard entry-level tablet, used in art and design programs at colleges and universities nationwide. At approximately $110 per unit, this proposal delivers institutional drawing tablet access for under $3,100 \u2014 a fraction of previous requests \u2014 while serving over 1,400 students per semester.<\/td>\n <\/tr>\n
