\n[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Main Content” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” custom_padding=”10px|10px|10px|10px|true|true” global_colors_info=”{}”]On Friday, December 5, 2025, Queens College Library won an \u201cExcellence in Assessment\u201d award at the second annual Queens College Assessment Showcase, as determined by attendees\u2019 votes. Using data visualization, the library\u2019s \u201c2024-2025 Assessment Report\u201d poster highlights the library’s ongoing efforts to fulfill its mission in support of the College\u2019s curricular and research activities.<\/p>\n

The data dashboards in the poster show that from fiscal 2020 to 2025, overcoming the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the library has continued to provide the QC community with substantive instructional, research, and informational support by curating accessible library resources, services, and spaces. The dashboards also reveal distinct changes in the usage of library digital resources since 2020, when its operations transitioned in response to COVID-19. Since 2020, LibGuides views have increased sharply, peaking in 2021; OneSearch sessions have grown rapidly, peaking in 2022.<\/p>\n

The visualized longitudinal library data provide meaningful insights into assessing library support. The findings suggest that multiple factors could impact the use of an academic library\u2019s services and resources. A well-functioning online catalog and well-developed subject-based content are the most robust library resources. Sufficient professional librarians are the backbone of an academic library.<\/p>\n

Some Assessment Showcase attendees made positive comments on this data-informed poster, including \u201cGreat job and very useful data collections,\u201d \u201cReally good data collection,\u201d and \u201cVery nice graphs!\u201d \u201cGreat work on the research! LibGuides are so useful!\u201d and \u201cLove the multi-dimensional data dashboards with various metrics of student success!\u201d<\/p>\n

The second-annual Queens College Assessment Showcase provides an opportunity to have the Library’s substantive support more visible in the community. The Showcase attendees\u2019 inspiring comments and the \u201cExcellence in Assessment\u201d award will motivate Library staff to improve assessment practices further and enhance library support for the College’s curricular and research activities.
