{"id":2385,"date":"2021-02-09T08:41:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-09T13:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/library-test.qc.cuny.edu\/?p=2385"},"modified":"2021-02-09T08:41:00","modified_gmt":"2021-02-09T13:41:00","slug":"cuny-chapbook-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qc.cuny.edu\/library\/2021\/02\/09\/cuny-chapbook-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"CUNY CHAPBOOK FESTIVAL"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Dates: February 18, March 18, and April 15, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In an age when everything is never fast enough, the chapbook is a small anchor to the moment; it is a pause to read and relish,&#8221; says Kimiko Hahn, poet, professor, and one of the festival organizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chapbook, a modest publication has had an impressive longevity dating from early printing press publications to today&#8217;s editions, whether stapled and photocopied, hand-lettered on hand-made paper, or digital.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This three-day festival revives an earlier incarnation that took place at CUNY&#8217;s Graduate Center. Funded by the Executive Vice Chancellor Jose Cruz&#8217;s Office of Academic Affairs and the Benjamin S. Rosenthal Library, the events are virtual and registration is open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Highlights include:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Keynote:&nbsp;<\/strong><em>Matvei Yankelevich<\/em>, poet, translator and the executive director of Ugly Duckling Presse, will speak on &#8220;The Chapbook Then and Now.&#8221; He also recorded a video on how to make a chapbook, available on the website.<\/li><li><strong>Musical performance:<\/strong>&nbsp;<em>Cornelius Eady Trio<\/em>&nbsp;will perform work whose lyrics are published in numerous chapbooks.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Reading:&nbsp;<\/strong><em>Alicia Ostriker,<\/em>&nbsp;N.Y.
