The Degree Audit Process

The official audit is conducted by the Registrar’s Office, Graduation Audit Unit, and supersedes all other indications that the student has completed all the degree requirements. The degree audit is the final step before graduation.

First Step: You initiate the process by filing for graduation online via your CUNYfirst account on or before the deadline.
Second Step: The Graduation Audit Unit will prepare the necessary information regarding your major/minor and will forward it to department advisors for their review and approval. The Registrar’s Graduation Audit Unit is responsible for reviewing and certifying completion of the college’s general education requirements (see Degree Requirements). Your major/minor department is responsible for checking that you are about to complete or have completed your major/minor requirements. Once the degree audit has been conducted, students will be notified only if there is a problem.
Third Step: After the college’s grading process is complete and grades have been posted on students’ transcripts, the Graduation Audit Unit will conduct the final degree audit and post the graduation notation for students who have completed the college’s degree requirements. Students found ineligible to graduate will be notified by mail and instructed to refile for a subsequent semester. If you do not receive a confirmation of graduation ninety (90) days after the actual graduation date, write or call the Registrar’s Office, Graduation Audit Unit, 718-997-4400, for clarification.
Fourth Step: Approximately three months after graduation, your diploma will be mailed to you. All financial obligations (stops on your record) must be cleared before the Registrar's Office can release your diploma. Please make sure that we have an updated address where we can forward your diploma. If you wish us to hold your diploma for pickup, please make that request in writing to the Graduation Audit Unit.
