Benjamin Sammons

Benjamin Sammons

Benjamin Sammons is an expert on ancient Greek poetry, in particularly Homer and other early epic.  He holds a PhD in Classics from New York University (2007) and has taught at New York University, Penn State University, and Montclair State University.  He is the author of The Art and Rhetoric of the Homeric Catalogue (Oxford University Press: 2010), a study of catalogue poetry in Homer, and has published numerous articles on Homer, Greek tragedy, and ancient literary criticism.  He is currently writing a book on lost Greek epics entitled Device and Composition in the Greek Epic Cycle.
