The Office of Communications and Marketing supports the mission and strategic plan of Queens College; provides leadership in developing and implementing communications and marketing that promote the extraordinary educational opportunities available on our campus; assists college leadership in communicating information to diverse constituencies year-round, including on matters relating to emergency preparedness; prepares and utilizes news releases, promotions, publications, photographs, advertisements, social media, video, and e-communications. Outreach is conducted to a wide variety of internal and external audiences, including students (current and prospective), parents, faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, neighbors, educators, and business, labor, community and governmental leaders. The Office advises college constituencies on communications and marketing matters and serves as a valued resource on current and new developments in those fields.

Creative Services

Creative Services develops and maintains consistent and effective visual communication to serve the college community in realizing its goals. The work supports enrollment, fundraising, and community outreach through effective use of text and images. The creative team plans publications and develops concepts, provides direction and oversees major initiatives, including graduation materials, student recruitment, publicity for conferences and special events, special certificates, materials for fundraising and alumni including “Queens,” the magazine aimed at alumni audiences, as well as the performing arts. Creative Services also arranges printing and oversees photography, maintaining quality control and developing design standards for the campus.

Photo Services

Assures coverage of campus events and provides portraits and other photography for the college’s website, newsletter, alumni magazines, and college reports.

Editorial Services

Editorial Services is responsible for the content of all printed material and e-communications produced by the college. It prepares speeches and related research for the president and senior administrative offices. It writes and edits the college’s bulletins, reports, fundraising and recruitment pieces, alumni and faculty-staff publications, departmental brochures, newsletters, weekly mailers, etc. It reviews for accuracy all non-academic pages on the college’s website and maintains the events calendar on the homepage and a number of other informational pages.

Marketing and Enrollment Services

Marketing develops and drives strategies for brand awareness, recruitment, and event promotions. It provides assistance with research, return on investment information and analysis, and strategic plans for outreach events through multi-year campaigns. It oversees ongoing, year-round social media communications, digital services, and original video content and production. Marketing works to ensure that communications represent and support the college’s brand identity and integrate with other marketing initiatives at the college. It strives to create a unique brand experience that audiences can find only at Queens College. Major activities include a year-round student enrollment-oriented marketing campaign and print, digital, direct mail and email summer session campaigns. 

Digital Services

Working closely with Creative Services, Editorial and Marketing, Digital Services creates Queens College’s online and digital presence including email marketing services, evites, ad campaigns, social media graphics, web graphics and helps create landing pages for the QC website.  Digital Services publishes QC email newsletters such as The QView and Frankly Speaking. 

Social Media Services

Provides guidance for creating and maintaining online communities using various social media outlets. It also maintains the college’s official accounts on Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn and helps develop messaging and content for appropriate communication.  

Video Services

Video Services creates original content and collaborates with departments and external vendors to conceptualize and produce promotional and informational videos for multiple purposes, including student recruitment, college messages, fundraising, and event promotion.

News Services

News Services is the college’s liaison to the media. It is responsible for publicizing newsworthy faculty, student, and alumni achievement, faculty and student research, innovative programs, and events through news releases and on X from @QC_News. It maintains the college’s list of faculty experts as a media resource and manages the content under the News and Announcements section of the homepage. News Services works with media representatives year-round to promote the college and respond to inquiries.
