Teresa (Te) Ceccon, a native New Yorker, has been involved in some form of music, dance, or theatre since her childhood and began teaching dance/movement formally at 17. She holds a BA in Theatre/Dance and certifications in Pilates, Gyrotonic, yoga, Anatomy of Movement (Irene Dowd), and Touch for Health. She received her Simonson Modern Jazz Certification 11 years ago, joined the Simonson faculty at Dance Space (now known as Dance New Amsterdam) in 1999, and is now proudly teaching alongside Lynn Simonson in the Teacher's Certification Course in New York City.
Ceccon has been a member of various independent New York City companies, including Spoke the Hub Dance, Koshin Dance Theater, Yin Mei Dance Company, and Silver-Brown Dance Theater, among others. She has performed in works by David Storey, Lynn Simonson, Diane McCarthy, Jason McDole, and Katiti King. Ceccon has presented her own choreographic works in venues such as the Evolving Arts Theater, Galapagos Art Space, Williamsburg Arts Nexus, Joyce Soho, Kasser Theater at Montclair State, and the Little Theater at Queens College.
Ceccon holds faculty positions at Dance New Amsterdam, Queens College, Hofstra University, and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. As guest faculty, she has taught at Barnard College, Montclair State University, and the University of Tennessee. Her teaching credentials include master classes and workshops in Texas, Montana, Connecticut, New Jersey and Tennessee, and internationally in Canada, Holland, and Spain. She has received choreographic commissions for independent companies, universities, workshops, and concerts. This summer, Ceccon has been invited to teach and choreograph in Scotland and Spain, and at the Bates Dance Festival in Maine, in addition to the annual Simonson workshop that she leads in Quebec City.
