Sergei Antonov is an Affiliated Scholar at the History Department. He currently teaches courses on various aspects of Russian and Soviet history, with special attention to the evolution of political, economic, and legal institutions, as well as to the history of warfare and political violence in Russia and its empire. His research projects include a book-length study of personal credit in imperial Russia, as well as a history of a transnational network of swindlers and counterfeiters in the nineteenth century, especially a group known as the Jacks of Hearts Club. He earned his Ph.D. at Columbia University in 2011 and a J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2002. Prior to becoming a historian, he was an associate at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP.
