Diane Coogan-Pushner is Distinguished Lecturer at Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY) and Director of the Graduate Program in Risk Management. At various times, Ms. Coogan has been the Associate Dean of Social Sciences for the College. Ms. Coogan was a Managing Director at Swiss Re and as team leader for structured reinsurance deals, closed over one billion dollars of transactions helping clients transfer risk and manage their balance sheets. Ms. Coogan was a portfolio manager for the longest running US equity hedge fund and created and launched a new long-short product for the financial services sector. She was also a portfolio manager for a private equity fund, also dedicated to financial services, which included fundraising for and recapitalization of a portfolio company.
At PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ms. Coogan created and led the Value Based Management practice for financial services clients. She developed valuation and risk models in support of transactions and other value based management engagements. Prior to joining PwC, Ms. Coogan led forecasting, planning and corporate strategy for AT&T’s $18 billion consumer markets division reporting to the CFO, with responsibilities for earnings attribution, investigation of earnings anomalies, and cash flow shortfalls. Ms. Coogan has served as a member of Standard & Poor’s Insurance Advisory Council, served as a director of a privately held insurance company, and provides asset management and risk management consulting services to insurance companies. Ms. Coogan began her career at the World Bank on a project to recapitalize the banking sector in Uganda. She has published research on topics of risk and investment performance and is the co-author of The Handbook of Credit Risk Management. Ms. Coogan earned her PhD in economics from Boston University in 1992 and wrote her dissertation on insurance profit cycles. Ms. Coogan is a CFA charter holder.
