Bilbao: International Management
Conducted in English
This course examines
the current challenges facing business managers competing in a global economy.
We will devote our attention to strategic management in a globally competitive
environment and the role of culture in motivation, leadership, communication,
negotiation, decision-making, HRM practices, and the management of a multicultural
workforce, whether abroad or at home. We will cover the process of management based on both the macro (organizational)
level of environment and strategy and the micro (interpersonal) level of
culture and human resources.
Located in the
picturesque Basque country of northern Spain, 45 minutes from the famous
beaches of San Sebastian and an hour away from France, Bilbao is
an ideal site for students who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of
international business. The
poster city for successful urban renovation, Bilbao has transformed itself
dramatically over the last decade into a cutting-edge, cosmopolitan banking and
service center, with world-class museums and art galleries, gleaming subways,
futuristic music halls, and a modern airport. Situated in the
foothills of a beautiful green mountain range facing the ocean, where it is possible
to hike in the morning and go swimming in the afternoon, Bilbao is a wonderful place
to live and study.
