Oman: Muscat, Sultanate of Oman

Conducted in English

Arabic Language will be offered in two levels (beginner and intermediate). Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) with Omani dialect will be taught by Omani instructors who are native Arabic speakers, and experienced in Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL) methods. Arabic language course will comprise 3 credits. Click here for a Course Description.

Oman: Political Culture and Economic Development in the Gulf will comprise 1 credit

Excursions: Two trips to interior Oman towns and villages, including one overnight stay in Bedouin tents in the desert Sharqiya. Travel includes staff guides knowledgeable of the local culture, bus transportation and room and board.

Classes are scheduled Monday to Friday

Travel during class time is strictly prohibited.

Beginner Arabic Language Syllabus

Intermediate Arabic Language Syllabus

Location: Muscat, Oman

NY departure and return dates: January 1-25, 2013

Arrive in Muscat morning of January 2nd

Courses: 3 credits, Arabic Language (beginner or intermediate)

           1 credit, Political Culture and Economic Development in the Gulf

Faculty: Center for International Learning

Housing: Shared Housing in Hotel (quad/triple suites)

Program Costs:

Cost (includes all expenses below except airfare): $4045

CUNY tuition (for in-state, matriculated undergraduates): $920

Travel insurance: $37

Consolidated Fee (hotel, bus transport daily, lunch weekdays, field trips and excursions) : $3088

Total cost with airfare: $5245

 Airfare: $1200 (estimate)

Additional costs

Minimum budget for meals and personal expenses of $20 to $25 per day (approximately $600)

Application Deadline: November 5, 2012

Programs are open to all undergraduate students from all CUNY campuses (unless restricted by level of study, language fluency, or other program criteria). Travel on Fridays and some Saturdays for some programs.
