Ready to apply to QC?

Lots of steps are involved in application, admission, enrollment and registration. This checklist will take you through all of them.

Plan Ahead


Queens College is still accepting applications for Fall 2014, but you should act soon: The college application process can take 6 weeks or more. Be sure you plan ahead so you're not left behind.

Create a Portal Log-in/CUNY account


Applications are submitted online through the City University of New York (CUNY), which processes them. Therefore, you need to have a CUNY account. To create one, go to the CUNY Portal Log-in. (Best if used in Firefox or Chrome web browsers.)

Prepare and File Your Application


Before starting your application, please fill out the appropriate worksheet. The worksheet asks for all the information you need for the online form.

General Freshman Application Worksheet
For students who are high school seniors, have already graduated from high school, or who have passed the GED test.

Transfer Student Application Worksheet
   


Now you're ready to log in to the CUNY Portal, click Apply To CUNY/Apply Online, and complete your application. Remember to indicate that Queens College is your first choice.

Additional Documents


After you apply online, you'll need to mail your transcripts, test scores, and any other required information to CUNY. Visit CUNY's After You Apply page for details. Upon sending all necessary documents to CUNY, allow 4 to 6 weeks to be notified of your admission decision.

During this period, domestic applicants may check the application status page. If you were educated abroad, email your status inquiry to aonline@cuny.edu. Include your Application Control Number (10-digit number beginning with a "W" that can be found in your Application Summary Package) in the body of the email.

Admissions Notification


If accepted, you will acceptance notification by email, followed by a formal acceptance letter from the Queens College President.

If you are not accepted, you will be notified by email.

After You've Been Admitted


Congratulations--and welcome to Queens College! Now what? Review CUNY's enrollment timeline for general information on the enrollment process. Then, keep checking your email for information that's specific to Queens.

FRESHMEN

To complete your enrollment at Queens College, you'll need to:

  1. Submit your Commitment Deposit
  2. Apply for Financial Aid
  3. Complete the Health Services Form
  4. Attend a Freshman Reception
  5. Claim your CUNYfirst account
  6. Attend New Student Orientation and register for classes
  7. Pick up your QCard (college identification)

TRANSFERS
To complete your enrollment at Queens College, you'll need to:

  1. Submit your Commitment Deposit
  2. Apply for Financial Aid
  3. Claim your CUNYfirst account
  4. Attend a Transfer Workshop* and register for classes
  5. Pick up your QCard (college identification)

*Transfer Workshops review the registration process. Attendance is not mandatory, but it's strongly suggested. Priority for Transfer Evaluations is given to students who sign up for a workshop.
