Educational Leadership

The Educational Leadership Program is at the post-master's level and leads to New York State Certification as School Administrator-Supervisor. Courses are also offered that may be applied toward meeting the requirements for the New York State Certificate of School District Administrator.

Leadership and Bilingual Advanced Certificate Program

Tuition support available 


The purpose of this program is to prepare educational leaders in education and policy at the community, school, district and state level. Specifically, candidates will develop knowledge and skills to work with bilingual populations, support all school staff working with multilingual learners and promote systemic supports for dual and transitional bilingual programs.

This initiative is sponsored by New York State Education Department: Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL). Queens College, CUNY seeks to recruit 20 candidates whose 
30 of the 45 credit program will be funded (15 SBL and 15 Bilingual Extension), the other 15 credits of SBL are covered by students for the completion of 15 courses: 10 courses leading to the School Leadership Certification and five courses leading to the Bilingual Extension.  This program will only accept one cohort of twenty candidates for the Fall 2017. Candidates will have to commit to completing the two-year program (2017-2018 and 2018-2019) that will qualify them for positions as school leaders in bilingual schools of the State of New York.

Openings are competitively filled; admission cannot be guaranteed to all who meet the stated requirements. Applicants must have a Master's degree from an accredited college or university (or the foreign equivalent) and an average of B in study relevant to teaching.

Candidates applying to the Graduate Program in School Leadership for the Fall of 2016 can apply even if they have not yet taken the GRE.  All application materials will be reviewed.  Applicants can receive conditional acceptance with the expectation that they will submit evidence that they have taken the GRE by January 20th of 2017.  For questions regarding the GRE requirement, please click here .
