The Academic Advising Center at Queens College provides centralized and integrated academic advising services to matriculated undergraduate students through the clarification of degree requirements in support of achieving a timely graduation. Through accessible advising services and special programming, we will provide you with a clear understanding of the college's academic requirements and your responsibilities in earning a baccalaureate degree.

Beginning with Freshman Orientation or a Transfer Advising Workshop, you will find wonderful opportunities to become connected to faculty, staff, and your fellow students, as you are introduced to the language and culture of your new school. Thereafter, it is anticipated that your next step will be to also connect to the special programs, offerings, academics, opportunities and “tools,” such as our online resources—all of which will assist you in making this significant and exciting transition toward your ultimate goal of receiving a bachelor’s degree.

By working regularly with an academic advisor, students can chart their own course through the college's degree requirements, majors and minors, campus services, and myriad educational opportunities, which include honors programs, internships, and study abroad. To this end, advisors can assist you in creating an educational plan that will offer you the opportunity to set your personal academic goals, identify the strategies by which to achieve them, and help you to understand and work within academic policies and deadlines.

Among the center’s “specialty advising services” are those serving adults, underrepresented students, CUNY Baccalaureate students, Dominican Scholars, re-entry students, participants in the Sophomore Initiative, students with disabilities, veterans and reservists, and flexible schedulers in the Weekend College. Advisors are available by appointment, on a walk-in basis, and on evenings and weekends, as well as via email through “e-advising.”

Through such vigorous and personalized support of your academic success throughout your college career, the center’s professional academic advisors will assist you in reaching your full academic potential in a richly diverse environment where students come first!
