Telephone Services is responsible for the college's cabling infrastructure, network connections from jack to Cisco switch port, and three voice systems: Avaya G3r PBX, Octel Aria 350 Voicemail, and the eCAS call accounting system. We also manage the online and hard copy directories.

More than 90% of our land line numbers are in the E911 service database. If a staff person calls for outside help, the E911 database will contain his or her name, building and room number, and the general college address--information that directs help to the location of the emergency call. The database for this service is updated monthly. Queens College is one of only two CUNY locations that have this service.

As the cabling group, Telephone Services runs fiber, copper, and coaxial cable throughout the college for the PBX, phones, and data network. We do all the programming, wiring, and handset installation for the phone system.

We maintain the school's voice mail system and individual mailboxes. In addition, we create, maintain, and update department attendant menus and the main menu for the college.
