Foundations of Excellence Final Report:
Draft as of April 30

2011

Announcement
We are very pleased to inform you that we are beginning a new process with regard to our first-year and transfer students, as a function of the Strategic Plan of the college.  Queens College will be embarking on a two-year self-study and improvement process for this population with the John Gardner Foundations of Excellence (
http://www.jngi.org/), beginning September, 2011.

The process includes a campus-based task force consisting of nine committees with a broad representation from across the campus. The work of the task force begins with a campus audit of the first year experience for new and transfer students, continues with a nine to twelve-month process of evaluation, and concludes with the development of a strategic action plan for campus improvement in services for first-year and transfer students.

We are very excited at this undertaking, and we are looking for broad-based participation from administrative and academic areas across campus. As such, we will be asking for volunteers to serve on the task force as committee co-chairs or members.

Thank you in advance for your participation in this important initiative.
