Mission and Oversight

The Queens College Center for Teaching and Learning was founded in 2006 to recognize, promote, and sustain the quality of teaching and learning at Queens College.

The Director of the Center reports to the Provost, and receives oversight and direction from the Teaching Excellence and Evaluation Committee of the Queens College Academic Senate.

We are part of an international movement promoting the scholarship of teaching and learning and centralizing sources of support for faculty. Locally, this trend is evidenced by the growing list of centers for teaching and learning (and differently named programs with similar missions) at campuses throughout CUNY. Centers outside the CUNY cluster are also abundant; a very limited selection is provided below.

The objective of supporting faculty is ultimately to instigate the kind of transformational change described here by the Q.E.D. Foundation.
