Roopali Mukherjee is Associate Professor of Media Studies. She is also a faculty member in the Film Studies, Asian American Studies, and Africana Studies programs, and serves as Associate Director of Macaulay Honors College at Queens College.
Mukherjee writes about race and American public culture. She is author of The Racial Order of Things: Cultural Imaginaries of the Post-Soul Era (University of Minnesota Press, 2006) and co-editor of Commodity Activism: Cultural Resistance in Neoliberal Times (New York University Press, 2011). She is currently working on a new book on race, affluence, and political culture in the United States and a second scholarly anthology, Undoing Leviathan: Multidisciplinary Readings of the State.
Mukherjee teaches courses on news analysis, media and activism, commodity culture, and African Americans in film and television.
