Ans:
There are two cohorts beginning in 2013, one starting in February and one in June.  The schedule of classes is more concentrated for the cohort starting in June.

2. Will I be able to continue with my job?

Ans:  Essentially no. SPIRITAS is a full-time program with a lot of time being spent in schools observing and teaching. Added to that, some University classes are held during the day. Students will generally be tied up from 8 am – 5 pm weekdays.

3. How large are the stipends/grants?

Ans: In year I the stipend is $30,000; in year II, students will be compensated for their teaching services by the schools themselves through a preliminary licensure agreement.  It is to be noted that in addition, there is $10,000 for tuition waivers provided for each student.

4. Do I have to attend the information session before I apply?

Ans:
Yes, the information session is part of the application process and application forms will only be distributed at the information sessions. For candidates who cannot easily get to Queens College because of distance, accommodations will be made via Skype.
