The prerequisite for all certificate and exam prep programs is a high school diploma/GED. If the class you must enroll in to complete your certificate is not specified among the course listings, please call 718-997-5700 for course counseling.

Medical Insurance Billing and Coding Certificate Program
Interested in specializing in insurance billing and coding for physicians and hospitals, or starting a business of your own? This certificate focuses on the special training needs of medical billers entering the profession today, as well as the coding and computer specialties needed for maximum medical claims reimbursement.

Please note: All electives must have a minimum number of students in order to run each semester. If the elective you choose has insufficient enrollment, you will be asked to transfer to an elective that has already met the minimum enrollment requirement. Otherwise, you will need to wait until the following semester in order to register, pending enrollment, for the class of your choice.

CLINICAL CERTIFICATES

Clinical Medical Assistant
Prerequisite: English speaking and writing skills are required.
A rewarding profession: Medical assistants perform important administrative and clinical tasks for physicians in private practice. Responsibilities may include front desk administration, specimen collection, preparing patients for a physical exam, assisting the doctor with procedures, administering medications, and educating patients about treatment, surgery, and diagnostic testing.

EKG Technician
Please note: As of Spring 2012, the EKG Technician Certificate Program is no longer accepting new students.
Become an EKG technician! In only two semesters, you can prepare for an entry-level position in the cardiovascular/EKG department of any hospital and start an exciting career in health care. After completing the required courses, receive a certificate of completion and become eligible for the national certification examination to become a Certified EKG Technician (CET). Opportunities for advancement and further training are abundant. All materials, except for textbooks and tapes for all health care classes, are included in tuition.

EXAM PREP PROGRAMS

Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) Exam Preparation
Enroll today if you want to pass the CPC certification exam and get national recognition as a certified procedural coder. Topics include an intensive review of how and when to use specific CPT and HCPCS codes, coding scenarios, sample test questions, problem solving and analysis of codes as well as test taking strategies. Course is taught by a certified procedural coder and upon completion, you can register to take the CPC exam. 10 hrs.
Prerequisite: AH200, AH202, and/or one year field experience.
