Mission Statement

The Child Development Center at Queens College provides quality child care and an early education program to meet the needs of both the student-parent and the child. Additionally, we provide after school care for student-parent's children between the ages of 5 and 10. Professional staff provides on-campus care and education according to flexible schedules that accommodate parents' needs. The programs offer a multicultural environment that promotes the strength and value of human diversity.

Developmentally appropriate activities – which stimulate children's intellectual and creative abilities, enhance motor development, and contribute to the acquisition of social skills – are the foundation of the curriculum. Independence is encouraged by giving children the freedom to make choices. Each child is viewed as an individual with his/her own rate of growth and development. The Child Development Center at Queens College, Inc. is a nonprofit institution licensed by the New York City Department of Health, Division of Day Care.

Registration Information/Procedures
Student-parents register their children according to their class schedule, with priority given to current Center parents. Each child is scheduled on a consistent basis for the entire semester, since the Center does not provide drop-in or babysitting services. Two sessions are offered each day, except Friday: a day session from 8 am to 4 pm and an evening session from 4 pm to 8 pm. Enrollment is available in blocks of time. A child may be registered in the day session for four, six, or eight hours per day; however, each child must be registered for a minimum of four hours daily and eight hours weekly. Children will be scheduled to arrive at either 8 am, 12 noon, or 2 pm. (New children will not be registered for a 12 noon arrival. No child will be registered for more than eight hours per day.)

Evening session arrivals are scheduled on an hourly basis beginning at 4 pm, with a minimum requirement of two hours daily and four hours weekly. Evening rates will apply to any child scheduled to arrive at 4 pm or later. Registration for new applicants is scheduled prior to each semester. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration in any time period will close when all available spaces are filled. At the time of registration, a nonrefundable fee must be paid in addition to a deposit equal to one week of your child's tuition.
