ELI's Full-time Day Program

The ELI’s full-time day program provides intensive, well-rounded English instruction and practice, whether your language goals are academic or for professional/career development.

• Focus on listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, test-taking strategies, pronunciation, etc.
• Take a placement exam on the first day. This determines the best level for you. During the fall and spring semesters, you have another opportunity to take the exam at the end of the semester.
• Classes meet four days a week.
• Fall and spring: With the exception of holidays when the college is closed, students attend class 18 hours a week for approximately 15 weeks.
• Summer ONE and TWO: With the exception of holidays when the college is closed, students attend classes 24 hours a week during the summer sessions.
• Certificate of Attendance is awarded upon successful completion.

QC/ELI Path

Queens College offers an option for students who are academically eligible for admission to the college, but do not meet the minimum English requirement. For more information, visit Path.

NEW! ELI's Part-time Evening Program

The ELI’s new part-time evening program provides targeted English instruction and practice, whether your language goals are academic or for professional/career development.

• Focus on listening and speaking or reading and writing.
• Choose to take BOTH for a more intensive program of study.
• Take a placement exam on the first day. This determines the best level for you.
• With the exception of holidays when the college is closed, students attend each class six hours a week during the fall and spring semesters.
• Certificate of Attendance is awarded upon successful completion.

ELI @ SEAMEO RETRAC, Vietnam
English Hybrid Program

The ELI partners with Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO). Established in 1965, SEAMEO is an international organization that promotes cooperation in education, science, and culture in the Southeast Asian region of the world.

ELI @ SEAMEO RETRAC provides English instruction to students in HCMC, Vietnam, through a blend of face-to-face and online learning. Using ePortfolio, blogs, wikis, email, and other tools, students interface with ELI instructors from Queens College in meaningful, interactive ways. At the same time, students enjoy vital face-to-face interaction with an instructor on location.

Contract Programs

The ELI offers customized courses/programs for interested partners. Past and present programs include, but are not limited to, cohort-specific ESL courses, business English, advanced career preparation, TESOL training, ESL courses in conjunction with other departments on the Queens College campus, etc. An online, instructor-led ESL course is also available.
