  Job Title: Development Officer

  Location: Queens College

​Reporting directly to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Development Officer will serve as a key member of the fundraising team, participating in developing strategies to achieve department-wide goals and lead efforts to create and facilitate a vibrant culture of philanthropy and service which includes working with high-level donors.

 In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Development Officer duties include but are not limited to:

- Develop strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors and QC Foundation Board members.
- Develop and recruit alumni & volunteers for fundraising committee to meet departmental fundraising goals.
- Designs, implements and monitors comprehensive resource development program.
- Maintains relationships with donors and sponsoring organizations to cultivate and maintain funding.
- Develop long and short term communication strategy, planning and development.
- Oversee record keeping and reporting to both internal and external concerns, ensuring that a flow of information (reports, proposals, letters, materials for prospects) is handled efficiently and smoothly.
- Manage the Department of Institutional Advancement Fundraising Gala and twenty-three alumni & development programs.
- Manage a portfolio of current and prospective major donors and liaise with  board members
- Manage and execute all the logistics involved with the Development Office events both on and off campus
- Supervise and produce invitations, written materials and journals for Gala and development programs.
- Oversee annual calendar and coordinate with college-wide calendar.
- Adhere to budget, manage event finances including invoicing and reporting.


Develops and implements strategies to secure major gifts to a College or Unit. 

-  Creates and implements thoughtful strategies to attract gifts from donors and prospects; works with management to establish, and meet, goals and targets 

-  Builds relationships, seeking new donors through prospecting using a variety of sources, and maintaining ongoing relationships with existing donors, collaborating with College and University management 

-  Ensures reporting requirements are completed in timely and accurate manner; utilizes automated systems for tracking and reporting 

-  Adheres to established protocols such as the University's gift acceptance policy 

-  Performs related duties as assigned.


​Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.


​- At least four years of development  in Higher Education preferred;
- Excellent writing skills and communication skills
- Strong attention to details; ability to multi-task and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include work availability for weekends.


​Salary commensurate with education and experience.
