CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

​Queens College Department of Secondary Education and Youth Services seek to hire a Full-time lecturer.  The lecturer will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in 7-12 science education, advise students, and share administrative and supervisory responsibilities in the science education program. After five years, lecturers are eligible for a Certificate of Continuing Employment (CCE).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

​A Bachelor’s degree in science education, or equivalent as noted below. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.
experience with residential educational travel, a training commitment to engaged student learning as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field of  7-12 science education; commitment to urban education serving diverse communities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have an earned master’s degree in Science Education or closely related area by start date. Other preferred qualifications include the following:  NYS Secondary Science Teaching Credential, three years of experience in teaching science at the secondary level and two years of experience teaching at higher education levels; demonstrated ability to teach courses in science pedagogical content, pedagogy, and research in 7-12 science education, including courses in technology applications; ability to design and manage program websites; knowledge of GLOBE program and GLOBE certification highly desirable; evidence of an initial research agenda, demonstration of broad-field knowledge; experience with residential educational travel, a training commitment to engaged student learning as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field of  7-12 science education; commitment to urban education serving diverse communities
