The New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), the leading forum for the investment community, has partnered with Professional & Continuing Studies (PCS) at Queens College, CUNY to offer Chartered Financial Analyst ® (CFA) Exam Prep courses to Queens College students, alumni, and the greater Queens community.
The Chartered Financial Analyst ® (CFA) Program is a globally recognized standard for measuring portfolio management and investment analysis competence and integrity that is administered by the CFA Institute. NYSSA has been providing CFA ® review courses for 30 years.
For the Spring 2012 semester, three CFA ® Live Review courses will be offered:
1) A 17-week, three-hour Wednesday evening CFA® Level I Weekly Review
2) A 11-week, four 1/2 hour Sunday CFA® Level I Condensed Review
3) A 11-week, four 1/2 hour Sunday CFA® Level II Condensed Review
The tuition for the CFA ® Live Review courses is:
• $1,000 for Full-time PCS and Queens College students; register in person at Kiely Hall, Room 111
• $1,500 for Queens College alumni; register in person at Kiely Hall, Room 111
• $1,425 / $1,495 for NYSSA members; register in person at Kiely Hall, Room 111
• $1,595 / $1,725 for general public and all online registrations

Schweser’s Complete Seminar Slide Workbook Vols. 1 and 2, a compilation of instructor slides, are included in the tuition. You will need to purchase the Schweser Essential Self-Study Package for use in class. NYSSA will make available the Schweser Essential Self-Study Package to students enrolled in any CFA ® Live Review course for $350. The essential package includes Schweser Study Planner, SchweserNotes™, Schweser’s QuickSheet™, SchweserPro™ QBanK (Online + Download), Practice Exams, Vol. 1 & Vol. 2, InstructorLink™, Schweser Library, exam-tips blog, instructor-led office hours, and searchable FAQs.
NYSSA will also offer a Live Mock Exam experience for all students enrolled in these CFA ® Live Review courses at a discounted price of $49. Additionally, all CFA ® Live Review students shall receive, at no additional cost, entry into the NYSSA/Schweser Online Mock Exam.

During the day-long Level I multiple choice CFA exam, you’ll be tested on your comprehension of material which concentrates on investment tools. But don’t be fooled—this first step in your pursuit of the CFA designation is filled with pitfalls. The pass rate for the December 2010 exam was only 36%. While you will need to put in the study time—at least 250 to 300 hours—this CFA Exam Prep / Live Review course will help you focus on what it takes to get a passing grade. Ehsan Nikbakht, DBA, CFA, FRM, PRM has more than 18 years of professional corporate training in capital markets, equity, fixed income, risk management and derivatives. He has trained more than 1,000 CFA and FRM candidates. Nikbakht holds full professorship in finance at the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University. His research book on foreign loans received a Stessin Prize for Outstanding Scholarly Publication. Nikbakht received his doctoral degree in finance from George Washington University.

He has extensive derivative and risk management experience and regularly consults with hedge funds, quantitative mutual funds, and law firms.

The Chartered Financial Analyst ® (CFA) Program is a globally recognized standard for measuring portfolio management and investment analysis competence and integrity that is administered by CFA Institute. NYSSA has been providing CFA ® review courses for 30 years and is now expanding to offer its courses through an educational institution. “NYSSA is excited to begin working with Queens College,” said NYSSA President and CEO Amy Geffen. “This partnership allows us to reach more investment professionals and help equip them with the technical knowledge, ethics and standards needed to succeed in their careers.”

NYSSA will provide Queens College with two CFA Exam Prep courses per semester: a 17-week weeknight course and a 10-week Sunday course. Queens College students and alumni will attend these courses at a discounted rate and can also take a live or online mock exam.
