Victoria Tomasulo
Victoria TomasuloVictoria Tomasulo was born in New York City on October 24, 1973. She was raised in Astoria, Queens by Italian-American grandparents and has spent most of her life in New York City, traveling to London, Paris and Rome for visits. She completed a study abroad program at the American University of Rome in 1994 and received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Concentration in Creative Writing at SUNY New Paltz in 2000. Between 2000-2005, several of her poems were published in small literary magazines and she was awarded the Dorothy Daniels Honorary Writing Award, which was sponsored by the National League of American Pen Women. In 2005 she began her doctoral studies at CUNY Graduate Center, specializing in twentieth-century Italian, American and English literature, gender studies and psychoanalysis. She was awarded a Graduate Teaching Fellowship in 2005 and began to teach comparative literature courses at Queens College, where she still works as an Adjunct Instructor. In 2008 she was awarded the Master of Arts in Comparative Literature. Currently she is working on her dissertation prospectus with Nancy K. Miller. Her dissertation, “Quixotic Subjects: The Representation of Love and the Space of the Female Imaginary in Twentieth-Century Women’s Novels” is a work in progress.
