NSF/Research.Gov
The National Science Foundation is a multifaceted agency that funds basic research in the physical, biological, social sciences, engineering, and education. Grants undergo peer review. Many program officers who serve at the foundation are faculty on temporary leave from their home institutions.
Research.gov is used by the National Science Foundation for propsal submissions, project reports as well as Notifications and Requests. All proposers must have a UserID and password that is unique; each user is affiliated by his/her employing or sponsoring organization.
To obtain a Research.gov account, instructions are available here. ORSP can no longer create your Research.gov account but can help you with the process. We can look you up by email address or NSF ID if you are already registered (either at Queens or another institution) and then have a request sent for you to register with Resesarch.gov. If you have an existing account, please update your profile to reflect CUNY Queens College as your home institution.
Please note that there are several Queens College organizations. Make sure you are affiliated with the correct organization, CUNY Queens College, #0026906000.
Research.gov has several user areas, including Sign-in, Proposals, Reporting, Administration, Proposal Review, and Financial Functions. ORSP cannot view or submit your proposal without the PI giving us access. All proposals, revisions, and supplemental requests must be initiated by the PI and then “sent” to us, the Sponsored Research Office (SRO), for review, approval, and submission to NSF. ORSP cannot start a proposal and the PI cannot submit it.
If you have additional questions about using Research.gov, please contact our office.
