Natalia Candelo is an Associate Professor of Economics at Queens College. She investigates economic decision-making by urban and rural populations using experimental methods. Her work so far has focused on Latin America, including large-scale lab-in-the-field experiments in Bogota, Buenaventura, Cali, Barranquilla, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Oaxaca, Lima, Montevideo, and San Jose de Costa Rica, in 12 rural villages in Mexico, as well as in multiple neighborhoods in the U.S. and the Philippines. The National Science Foundation, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Science of Philanthropy Initiative from the University of Chicago, and the CUNY Research Foundation have funded her research. She completed her Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2012.
