Anthropology at Queens College

The Anthropology Department at Queens College was founded in 1938 by Hortense Powdermaker. Today, Queens College is one of New York’s preeminent institutions for undergraduate anthropology education. Additionally, most of our faculty are part of the Anthropology Doctoral Program at the CUNY Graduate Center, which trains highly successful PhD students and articulates with the New York Consortium in Evolutionary Primatology. Opportunities at Queens College extend beyond the classroom through undergraduate research and fieldwork with faculty.
