Sylvain Bouteille, MBA
Sylvain Bouteillé is Head of Specialty, Americas at AXA XL, a leading provider of Property & Casualty global commercial insurance offering insurance and reinsurance to enterprises of every kind and size. He oversees the development and execution of AXA XL’s regional strategy for its Specialty insurance division which includes Aviation, Ocean Marine, Political Risk, Trade Credit & Commercial Bonds, War, Terrorism & Political Violence, Fine Art & Specie, and Structured Risk Solutions..
Prior to AXA XL, he was Head of Trade Credit for the Americas at AIG. Sylvain also worked 24 years for Swiss Re Group, one of the world’s leading providers of insurance and reinsurance in various distribution, underwriting and risk management positions. Most recently, Sylvain was Global Co-Head of International Insurance Programs, in charge of strategy, client engagement, product development, marketing, credit risk management and new technology. Sylvain served previously as Head of Sales North America at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. Sylvain joined Swiss Re in 1996 in the newly created credit risk management division based in Zurich.
Sylvain is the co-author with Diane Coogan-Pushner, of The Handbook of Credit Risk Management: Originating, Assessing and Managing Credit Exposures (Wiley – 2nd Edition – December 2021). A benchmark reference in the field of credit risk, the book is a best-seller in risk management and has been published in several languages.
Sylvain Bouteillé is a French and American citizen. He holds an MS degree in Civil Engineering from ENTPE (France) and an MBA from INSEAD (France).
