Sylvain Bouteille, MBA

Sylvain Bouteillé is Head of Trade Credit for the Americas at AIG, a leading global insurance organization. He is responsible for managing and developing AIG’s Trade Credit activities in the USA, Canada and Brazil. Prior to AIG, Sylvain worked 24 years for Swiss Re Group, one of the world’s leading providers of insurance and reinsurance in various distribution, underwriting and risk management positions.

Most recently, Sylvain was Global Co-Head of International Insurance Programs, in charge of strategy, client engagement, product development, marketing, credit risk management and new technology. Sylvain served previously as Head of Sales North America at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. Sylvain joined Swiss Re in 1996 in the newly created credit risk management division based in Zurich.  Prior to joining Swiss Re, he spent a number of years working for a large French construction company in their Japan office.  Sylvain started his career in the French Administration in Japan and France.

Sylvain is the co-author with Diane Coogan-Pushner, of The Handbook of Credit Risk Management: Originating, Assessing and Managing Credit Exposures (Wiley – 2nd Edition – December 2021). A benchmark reference in the field of credit risk, the book is a best-seller in risk management and has been published in several languages.

Sylvain Bouteillé is a French and American citizen. He holds an MS degree in Civil Engineering from ENTPE (France) and an MBA from INSEAD (France).​
