Federal Work-Study (FWS)

Applying for Work-Study

Students who are interested in applying for Federal Work-Study (FWS) for Fall 2018-Spring 2019 can do so by completing a 2018-2019 FAFSA now and checking "yes" to the question: Are you interested in work study? File early; funds are limited.

Any student awarded work-study in the 2018-19 academic year and interested in working must accept the award on CUNYfirst. Log on to CUNYfirst, select HR/Campus Solutions followed by Student Center, scroll down and click on Finances. Click "Accept/Decline Awards" under the Financial Aid line. Select Aid Year to view (2019) for Queens College, make sure you accept the award, and SUBMIT.

***Only students who accept the work-study award will receive information concerning placement in August. We will send out email instructions in July.***


Students who were awarded Federal Work-Study for the 2018-19 academic year and wish to work during the summer can apply for a community service job. Click on the Off-Campus Work-Study button below for further information. ​​

Click on the On-Campus Work-Study button below to print the required documents. Please complete and bring them with you to placement, with proof of citizenship (see form I-9).
    

 Eligible Students

To accept the award, you must:

  • be a matriculated student in a degree program at Queens College, and enrolled at least half-time (6 credits)
  • be in good standing and making satisfactory progress toward a degree, based on guidelines for Federal Title IV aid
  • not be in default of a Federal Perkins Loan or Direct Loan
  • not owe a refund of a Federal Pell Grant or Federal SEOG or other federal aid
  • meet other eligibility requirements (e.g., citizenship status, etc.)

WHEN YOU COME FOR PLACEMENT, YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND BRING THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS WITH YOU.

 The One Stop Service Center has relocated to the Registrar's Office, 100 Jefferson Hall.  Make sure to have your photo ID and your confirmation email at hand when you check in on the day of your appointment.

  • Fall 2018 - Important Dates & Deadlines

    • ​November 4th 2018 Open House Presentation - click here
    • The last day to apply for APTS (Aid for Part-time Studies) is Monday, October 1st, 2018.  You must have submitted your TAP application for 2018-2019 and filled out the supplement form on your Student Service Center in CUNYfirst.
    • The last day to add courses is September 2, 2018. Your registration as of September 2nd will be used to determine your maximum financial aid eligibility for the semester (grants, loans and work-study).​
    • The Excelsior Scholarship application for 2018-2019 was available from 9:00 am, March 26, 2018 til 11:59 pm, July 23, 2018.
 
  • Spring 2018 - Important Dates & Deadlines
    • The Excelsior Scholarship application for the Spring 2018 semester was December 4th, 2017​.  If you first received the award in the fall term of the current academic year, no additional action is needed for the spring term.  
    • The last day to add courses was February 2, 2018. Your registration as of February 2nd will be used to determine your maximum financial aid eligibility for the semester (grants, loans and work-study).
    • February 16, 2018, was the last day to declare a major for TAP/APTS eligibility for Spring 2018.
    • March 2, 2018, is the last day to apply for APTS.
    • May 4, 2018is the last day to apply for a direct loan.
