For Spring 2021 Applicants:

Recognizing the difficulty of taking the GRE and GMAT tests due to current global circumstances, we are allowing a grace period for Spring 2021 admissions. Academically qualified applicants can qualify for conditional admission and have up until registration for Fall 2021 classes to submit required test results. Students will not be able to register for Fall 2021 until they submit the GRE or GMAT where required by their program.

Students applying to Risk Management programs may bypass the GRE/GMAT requirement all together by taking the program’s internal exam. For more information, please contact Noelle Ogawa, Program Assistant for Risk Management programs, at to schedule your exam.

Students applying to programs in the School of Education have been issued a temporary extension of the GRE requirements. Please read the following message from Interim Dean Fusco.

GRE and GMAT:

Please view the list of Graduate Degree Programs to see if the program you are applying to requires a GRE or GMAT score.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Test System (IELTS), and Pearson Test of English (PTE):

Individuals whose native language is not English and whose post-secondary education was not in English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Test System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English (PTE). Applicants who score below 100 on the TOEFL, below 7 on the IELTS, or below 68 on the PTE,
will be required to register for the Graduate English as a Second Language (GESL) course during the first semester. Please view the list of Graduate Degree Programs to see the score required.

However, Queens College recognizes the current difficulty that COVID-19 has created in scheduling these exams. Non-native English speakers who are unable to take the TOEFL/IELTS/PTE for Fall 2020 admission can satisfy the English-language requirement by scheduling an online interview with their respective departments.  For more information, please contact the Office of Graduate Admissions at
