Background
Both Queens College of the City University of New York and Lucy Cavendish College of the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom are committed to serving underrepresented students from low-income and often marginalized communities. The proposed study abroad program aims to provide such Queens College graduates with opportunities that will help unlock their potential as they pursue a graduate degree, supporting their ambitions for careers with leading firms, not-for-profit organizations, or as entrepreneurs. This aligns with Queens College’s mission to prepare students—who speak 96 native languages and identify with 133 ancestries—to serve as innovative leaders in a diverse world that they make more equitable and inclusive. Similarly, Lucy Cavendish College seeks to broaden the experience of Queens College graduates by immersing them in its outstanding academic and research programs alongside its diverse student population, which represents more than 80 countries.
